JAY STOWE
MANAGING DIRECTOR & CEO, JEA, JACKSONVILLE
JEA is Northeast Florida’s not-for-profit, city-owned utility, employing 2,000. Stowe took over leadership after former CEO Aaron Zahn was fired following an effort to try to privatize the utility. Stowe is a third-generation utility executive. His father and grandfather both ran utilities in North Carolina. “I always joke and tell people that family dinner conversations for me as a child were very unusual. Our hot topic was utilities.”

SOMETHING SURPRISING
| I love to run, and I’m fascinated by bridges. When I visit somewhere new, I like to make time to look at the city’s infrastructure, and I make it my mission to run across the city’s bridges.

ADMIRES
| I admire how Amy Zubaly from the Florida Municipal Electric Association pivoted during the pandemic, and I find it impressive the way she handles mutual aid assistance across the country.
