JEFFREY STOOPS
CEO, SBA COMMUNICATIONS, BOCA RATON
Stoops spent 13 years as an attorney helping clients manage risk before moving to SBA, where he became CEO in 2002. He repositioned the firm from providing cell tower services to owning and operating wireless communications infrastructure. “I still identify risks, but I must embrace the risks that are appropriate to take in order for SBA to grow. Very different, and not a transition easy for a lawyer to make,” he says. Stoops is chairman of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, which will complete a $40-million expansion project — “on time and on-budget.”
