PRESIDENT & CEO, BAPTIST HEALTH OF NORTHEAST FLORIDA, JACKSONVILLE
Founded in 1955, Baptist Health is Northeast Florida’s only locally governed, faith-based health system. Programs include Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center; cardiovascular services, including the area’s only heart hospital; a neurological institute; Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute; a Bariatric Center of Excellence; and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The chain employs about 12,000. McClung joined the company in 2019.
|EDUCATION||Southwestern University (BA), Trinity University (MA)|
|SOMETHING SURPRISING||For about 10 years, I played keyboard and sang backup vocals in a six-piece rock band composed primarily of business executives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. While we didn’t tour, we did travel to play weddings, galas and other events and opened for some big-name musicians.|
|FLORIDA ISSUE||There are dramatic issues in Florida with residents having access to behavioral health services. Florida is one of a few states that has not opted to expand Medicaid, which would help provide more low-income adults with access to health services and care.|
|ALTERNATE CAREER?||I would be a Christmas tree farmer. It’s a testament to how much I love spending time in the outdoors.|
