Come January, Hanbury becomes Nova’s chancellor of the private, 22,000-student university. Harry Moon, at present executive vice president and chief operating officer, steps up to president. Hanbury became Nova’s sixth president in 2010 and CEO in 2011.Before joining Nova, Hanbury was a city manager for 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, Portsmouth, Va., and Virginia Beach, Va. He has a bachelor’s from Virginia Tech, master’s in public administration from Old Dominion and a doctorate in public administration from Florida Atlantic University. In addition to being chancellor, Hanbury will create a new Institute of Citizenship, Leadership, and International Affairs.
