Melissa Medina

PRESIDENT AND CEO, EMERGE AMERICAS, MIAMI

Medina became CEO of eMerge Americas in 2023, although she co-founded the organization and its signature event in 2014. With 10 employees, the organization works to transform Miami into a global tech hub through its annual conference in April, which is attended by more than 20,000 people and 5,000 companies from 45 countries. It has helped eMerge grow into a year-round platform that also offers new investor summits, startup pitch competitions, webinars and other events.

MENTOR: As a daughter of immigrants, my parents, Manny and Lisette Medina, have shaped my career trajectory. Witnessing their courage and sacrifice in leaving their homeland for the United States has deeply impacted me. Despite numerous challenges, their resilience and support have paved the way for my opportunities and achievements. Their profound influence guides my decisions and actions, contributing significantly to my company's longevity.

INSPIRING FLORIDIAN: Jo-Ann Forster, whose life was tragically cut short this past March due to cancer, was one of Florida's most recognized real estate leaders. She lived in Coconut Grove, was the center of her beautiful family and inspired me both professionally and personally.
