Conor Delaney
CEO AND PRESIDENT, CLEVELAND CLINIC FLORIDA, WESTON
A colorectal surgeon by trade, Delaney came to Cleveland Clinic in 1999 for what he thought would be a year of training before returning to his native Ireland, but was asked to stay. He remained there for six years doing clinical work, research and training before being recruited in 2005 to University Hospitals Case Medical Center, also in Cleveland, where spent a decade as chief of the division of colorectal surgery and vice chair of surgery. He returned to Cleveland Clinic in 2015 to lead the hospital’s Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute and in 2020 moved to the Sunshine State to head up Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he oversees five hospitals, 35 outpatient centers and 11,000 staff providing care to more than 750,000 patients annually. Delaney earned his medical degree, a Master of Surgery degree and a Ph.D. from the University College Dublin in Ireland. In a recent interview with UCD Alumni network, Delaney emphasized the importance of team building and creating safe environments where those teams can thrive. “Managing and relating to people and providing the best environment for them to work in, is what excites me the most, and what allows me to scale my ability to help others,” he said.
