Randy Haffner
President & CEO, AdventHealth Florida, Orlando
AdventHealth, founded in Orlando in 1908, is one of the largest, faith-based, not-for-profit hospital systems in the country and the only national health care company headquartered in Florida. Haffner has been with AdventHealth since 1989 and established the AdventHealth Leadership Institute to identify, nurture and develop executive leaders for AdventHealth. It includes a spectrum of leaders from seasoned executives to recent college graduates considering careers in health care.
EDUCATION: Walla Walla College (BS), Rollins College (MBA), Andrews University (Ph.D.)
IF I WERE GOVERNOR: I would lead Florida to meaningfully increase affordable, convenient access to high-quality behavioral health care. I would also seek a specific, measurable and wholistic approach to tackling the pressures that come with population growth and aging. All of this works together to improve Florida’s collective health and well-being.
INSPIRING FLORIDIAN: Someone who has inspired me is former Gov. Jeb Bush, who accomplished much in taking a business-like approach to conserve the Everglades, innovated the Medicaid program and reformed the educational system while promoting public and private choices.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED: The more that I have experienced and the more degrees that I have achieved, the more I appreciate that I have so much more to learn.
