CAROLYN NOLTE

PRESIDENT & CEO, FLORIDA PRESS ASSOCIATION & INTERSECT MEDIA, LAKE MARY

The Florida Press Association is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting press freedom and advancing the professional standards of journalism in Florida. Its for-profit subsidiary, Intersect Media, supports member newspapers by delivering innovative media solutions to clients and agencies. Over the past 15 years, Nolte has served in various leadership roles across both organizations. In 2024, she became the first female president and CEO since the Association’s founding in 1879.

EDUCATION: Georgia Southern University (BBA)

DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: If I had chosen a different path, I imagine I’d be a doctor or a therapist.

SOMETHING SURPRISING: I attended college on a music scholarship. Though I switched majors, I played the cello in the orchestra until graduation. This musical background fuels my creative thinking and helps me approach challenges from unique angles.

INDUSTRY TREND: The newspaper industry will continue to face significant challenges in the years ahead that will require us to think differently, adapt quickly and evolve continually. To remain relevant and valuable to our members, we must embrace change and lead with purpose. I anticipate continued shifts in publication frequency, increased digital consumption and further consolidation. While the landscape is changing, the future of the industry — and the organizations that support it — holds great promise.
