ALIX MILLER
PRESIDENT & CEO, FLORIDA TRUCKING ASSOCIATION, TALLAHASSEE
Celebrating its 90th year, the Florida Trucking Association is the sole voice of the trucking industry in the state, serving as the liaison between the private sector and state government. Miller became president and CEO in 2021.
EDUCATION: Tulane University (BA), Florida State University (MFA, Ph.D.)
IF I WERE GOVERNOR: I would continue to invest in infrastructure and public safety. With an estimated 1,000 new people moving to Florida every day, the strain on our state’s roads and highways will continue to grow.
MENTORS: A select circle of trucking executives I affectionately call 'The Godfathers.' These men, second and third-generation CEOs of Florida-based companies, are titans of the industry. I speak with one of them on an almost daily basis — I not only get advice, I get educated on specific issues, I get help solving problems for members, and the occasional pat on the back for a job well done.
READING: Anything by Edith Wharton
WHAT I’VE LEARNED: Embrace failure without fear. Stumble early and frequently — and grow accustomed to rising again to confront new challenges and opportunities.
