PEPE FANJUL JR.

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, FLORIDA CRYSTALS, WEST PALM BEACH

After fleeing Fidel Castro’s regime in Cuba, the Fanjul family founded Florida Crystals as a sugarcane farming and milling company in Palm Beach County in 1960. The company’s family-owned farms — hailed as the only organic sugarcane operations in the U.S. — have grown to cover 194,500 acres in Florida. Their assets include two sugar mills, a refinery, a distribution center and North America’s largest biomass power plant, which generates electricity using sugarcane fiber. Florida Crystals brands include the ASR Group, one of the world’s largest sugar refining operations, and Tellus Products, a company upcycling sugarcane fiber into compostable, single-use tableware and food-service products. Prior to joining the family business in 2002, Fanjul worked in investment banking. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from the University of Miami.
