DONALD "DUSTY" HOLLEY
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, FLORIDA CATTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION, POLK CITY
Holley — a seventh-generation Floridian — grew up working cattle on the family ranch and neighboring operations. In April, after 13 years of involvement with the Florida Cattlemen’s Association, he transitioned from director of field services to executive vice president. He also serves as executive director of the Florida Cattlemen’s Foundation and Florida Cow PAC, managing editor of the Florida Cattleman & Livestock Journal and COO of the Florida Cattle Enhancement Board. Holley launched the Florida Cattlemen’s Leadership Academy, training more than 120 emerging leaders in the cattle industry. He has also been involved with several boards, including those associated with the Florida FFA Foundation and Experience Kissimmee.
EDUCATION: Polk State College (AA), University of Florida (BS)
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: A college professor — helping students find purpose, confidence and pride in pursuing careers in agriculture.
MENTEE IMPACT: Many individuals I’ve trained through the Florida Cattlemen’s Leadership Academy have stepped into significant leadership roles across the industry. I’ve also mentored young congressional staffers who have gone on to build impactful careers in both the public and private sectors.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: One of my maternal great-grandfathers immigrated directly from Italy. I also became a certified baseball umpire at age 16.
INDUSTRY TREND: The most notable trend in the cattle industry is the increasing demand for transparency, traceability and sustainability — from pasture to plate. Consumers want to know where their food comes from, how animals are raised and how the land is managed.
HOBBY
“I’ve coached youth baseball for years — starting as a teen myself. I love instilling a passion for the game, helping young athletes grow, and modeling leadership and communication through coaching.”
