MIKE JOYNER

PRESIDENT, FLORIDA FRUIT & VEGETABLE ASSOCIATION, MAITLAND

The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association is the state’s leading full-service specialty crop organization, serving Florida’s grower-shipper community since 1943. It represents a broad range of crops, including vegetables, citrus, tropical fruit, berries, sod, sugar cane, tree crops and more. FFVA has three subsidiaries including FFVA Mutual Insurance Co., Florida East Coast Travel Services and Third-Party Registration. Joyner has been president since 2018.

EDUCATION: University of Florida (BS)

FIRST JOB: Working in farm fields for local fruit and vegetable growers and working cattle for ranchers. It was hot, hard work — you can’t quit — and taught me great life lessons.

DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: Hospital administration. The opportunity to lead a team with such an important mission would be challenging but also exciting and fulfilling.

SOMETHING SURPRISING: My happy place is reading a good book.

HOBBY: I have established a tradition with my two sons-in-law where we quail hunt on a South Georgia plantation each spring. I look forward to it as it strengthens the bond.

NONPROFIT PASSION: Community food assistance programs including food banks.
