MOLLIE MARCOUX SAMAAN
COMMISSIONER, LPGA, DAYTONA BEACH
Mollie Marcoux Samaan became the ninth commissioner of the Ladies Professional Golf Association in 2021. She is focusing on increasing purses and financial support for players while expanding the global fanbase. The LPGA Tour’s total prize money payouts for 2023 topped $100 million for the first time and it awarded its largest first prize check of $2 million to Lydia Ko, winner of the CME Group Tour Championship at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples. Prior to leading the LPGA, Samaan was director of athletics at Princeton University, where she was part of the class of 1991 and was also a two-sport varsity athlete in soccer and ice hockey. In addition to growing women’s golf, Samaan’s tenure with the LPGA has focused on supporting players. The golf organization launched Drive On: LPGA All Access, a series that airs on the league’s platforms and gives fans a beyond-the-course glimpse into the lives of some of the world’s top golfers. At Princeton, Marcoux Samaan crafted a strategic plan for athletics that included improvements in facilities, recruiting and retaining talented coaches and staff, creating effective fundraising and revenue growth strategies, and increasing marketing and exposure.
