Steve Phelps

President, NASCAR, Daytona Beach

NASCAR owns and operates 16 major motorsports facilities, including three in Florida. Phelps, who has been president since 2018, says: “Last year, as the country was experiencing a national reckoning on racial equality and social justice, NASCAR took a stand and recommitted itself to helping bridge the divide that still exists in America. We made some important decisions and changes to ensure that everyone who shares our passion for racing feels welcome at our events.”

EDUCATION University of Vermont (BS), Boston College (MBA)
NEW HOBBY I enjoy cycling in the hills of Clermont and riding on the A1A or the Intracoastal Waterway.
Sabbatical Topic I would follow my brother and sister and work in the Peace Corps.
Favorite Part of Job To work for NASCAR is to be part of a family, and I’ve felt that way since joining the company 16 years ago.
