Egusquiza has led the foundation for almost two years.
EDUCATION: Miami Dade College (AA), University of Miami (BA)
MENTOR: My mom is my most important mentor. As an immigrant and the first in our family to attend college, she overcame challenges, exemplifying determination and resilience.
INSPIRING FLORIDIANS: Gloria and Emilio Estefan: Trailblazers in Latin music, their contributions extend to business and philanthropy, advocating for Hispanic-Americans. Madeline Pumariega: As a Miami Dade College graduate, I’m inspired by her leadership, advocacy and commitment to educational excellence. Derek Jeter: Working with Derek, I admired his journey from athlete to a businessman and community leader.
MOTIVATIONAL MANTRA: Embrace your journey, give generously of your time, talent, and treasure. Embrace change, value words, grow through challenges, seek opportunities, learn from experiences, heed feedback and leave your comfort zone.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED: Building and nurturing strong, authentic relationships with others. It can open the door for opportunities to gain knowledge and insights. These relationships can help you develop a strong support network.
IF I WERE GOVERNOR
“I would continue expanding access to quality education. This includes increasing funding for schools, specifically for music and arts which are vital investments in our children’s future.”
