DEVIN STEPHENSON

PRESIDENT, FLORIDA POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY, LAKELAND

Stephenson took on the leadership role at Florida Poly in early 2025. The newest of the state’s 12 public universities, Florida Poly is the state’s only STEM-focused university and currently has an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students. Stephenson previously held leadership roles in various community and state colleges in Florida, Alabama, Missouri and Kentucky.

SOMETHING SURPRISING: I’m a classically trained pianist and began taking lessons at 8 years old. I have recorded and released three albums.

PASSION PROJECT: I enjoy landscaping. It offers a perfect blend of relaxation, creativity and fulfillment.

NONPROFIT PASSION: I am deeply committed to supporting special projects through faith-based organizations. My wife and I have had the privilege of building a well in Nigeria for a community without running water, rebuilding kitchens in Kibbutz Be’eri in Israel after the October 2023 destruction, and aiding relief efforts in Hawaii following the Maui fires, among other initiatives.
