EDUCATION: Tulane University (BA), South Alabama College of Medicine (MD), University of Hawaii, Medical University of South Carolina, Cleveland Clinic Foundation (surgical residencies)
FIRST JOB: In the summers between my college years, I managed several public swimming pools for the city of Birmingham.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: I’d be a research scientist, or I’d be an outfitter and guide to take travelers to the most challenging places on our planet.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I garden. I grow tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, collards, you name it. … I love that from one tiny seed you can get hundreds of tomatoes.
