JUAN CARLOS LISCANO
VICE PRESIDENT OF MIAMI OPERATIONS, AMERICAN AIRLINES, MIAMI
Liscano oversees American Airlines’ operations at Miami International Airport, the airline’s biggest international hub. With 15,000 employees, it’s the largest for-profit employer in Miami-Dade County. Born in Colombia and raised in Queens, N.Y., Liscano serves on the board of directors of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, recently chairing the board. He also serves as a director for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Miami-Dade.
EDUCATION: Indiana University (BS), Florida International University (MBA)
FIRST JOB: My first job was here in Miami as a part-time operations agent for American Eagle, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines. In some ways, my career has come full circle, and I never imagined that 31 years later, I’d be leading an operation that connects Miami to the world.
NONPROFIT PASSION: I’m a longtime supporter of United Way Miami, as the work they do has a profound impact throughout the community. I’m also proud to be part of the American team that supports several charitable organizations including the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, Camillus House, Baptist Health and the Mourning Family Foundation.
