LUCY BOWERS
PRESIDENT, FLORIDA CATTLEWOMEN, OKEECHOBEE
Bowers, a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, comes from a long lineage of cattlewomen. Her grandmother’s sister, Ada Pearce, was one of the first Seminole women to own cattle in the 1950s. Bowers grew up on the Brighton Reservation in Glades County and still helps maintain the family cattle herd with her brother. In 2022, she became the first member of the Seminole Tribe to serve on the Florida Cattlewomen executive board as parliamentarian. She has since ascended into the role of president for the 2025-26 term. In 2018, Bowers helped reestablish the Florida Seminole Cattlewomen, a tribal chapter she hopes will promote the beef industry locally.
