MATTHEW CALDWELL

In 2024 and 2025, in their 30th and 31st seasons, the Florida Panthers won consecutive Stanley Cup championships, the first two in the franchise’s history. The Panthers are a sports and entertainment company with more than 300 full-time employees and more than 1,000 part-time employees. They’re Broward County’s only professional sports team and one of the institutional brands in the local community. Caldwell has been CEO of the organization since 2016.

EDUCATION: U.S. Military Academy at West Point (BS), Northwestern University (MBA, JD)

FIRST JOB: I was a “busboy” waiting tables at a local restaurant in Staten Island, N.Y.

DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: If anyone would listen to me, I would do a podcast on choosing career paths, managing work/life balance and telling stories.

SOMETHING SURPRISING: I wrote a book that is available to purchase on Amazon.

HOBBY: I love playing golf with my kids.

NONPROFIT PASSION: Team RWB — they do great work for veterans.

INDUSTRY TREND: Media rights — teams are managing the gradual transformation to consuming games via streaming services vs. traditional TV options.
