DARYL HOLT
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT & group GENERAL MANAGER, EA sports, ELECTRONIC ARTS, ORLANDO
Known for “Madden NFL” and several other popular video game franchises, Electronic Arts has more than 14,000 employees worldwide, including 1,000 in Florida. It develops games and other content and online services for consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation, mobile devices and personal computers. Holt, who's been with EA for 22 years, is deeply involved with the Orlando community: He says he's working with local officials and leaders to convert an aging, unused performing arts center to a digital “town square” that will tell the stories of “artists, pioneers, innovators and disruptors.”
EDUCATION: Stetson University (BBA)
ECONOMIC SHIFT: Video games today are becoming much more social and self-expressive. It is up to us as creators to build massive online communities and connected ecosystems that harness player creativity at scale interactively. I believe the first trillion-dollar (in valuation) entertainment company will be interactive.
IN MY DOWNTIME: I enjoy quiet time alone thinking, but if I'm REALLY alone … I'm singing constantly.
NEXT GEN ADVICE: Don't seek to prove to others you can do what you've already done. Convince others you can do what you've never done before. We are entering, full force, into an amazing era, but change will continue rapidly. Develop true change capability: mentally, physically and philosophically.
