MICHAEL WYNN

PRESIDENT, SUNSHINE ACE HARDWARE; CHAIRMAN, WYNN FAMILY COS., NAPLES

Founded by Wynn’s grandfather, Sunshine Ace Hardware is one of Florida’s largest family-owned home improvement retailers with 17 locations and over 500 employees. Wynn has been president since 2005. Since then, he has integrated Sunshine into the fabric of the community through robust leadership, volunteerism and philanthropy to elevate the quality of life for all.

EDUCATION: University of South Florida (BS), Florida Gulf Coast University (MBA)

FIRST JOB: My first official job was bagging groceries at our small grocery store on Fifth Avenue in Naples.

SOMETHING SURPRISING: At 16, I survived a near-fatal collision with a cement truck. The impact left the truck atop my car, requiring a crane to lift it off. The jaws of life freed me, and a pressurized suit curbed blood loss. I spent a month in the hospital and another (month) recovering at home.

PASSION PROJECT: I’m dedicated to helping others overcome succession challenges. In 2022, I co-founded the Resnick-Wynn Family Business Conference in Southwest Florida that offers solutions through expert insights and success stories. Our conferences have featured keynote speakers like Steve Forbes, Jon Tisch (CEO of Loews Hotels and co-owner of the New York Giants), and Alan Hassenfeld of Hasbro Toys, with Jim Perdue scheduled for Feb. 20, 2026.

INDUSTRY TREND: Our industry is increasingly shifting from do-it-yourself to do-it-for-me services. In response, we launched our Ace Handyman Services of Southwest Florida division several years ago, deploying skilled craftsmen to deliver expert help directly to customers’ homes.
