JACOB WILLIAMS
CEO & GENERAL MANAGER, FLORIDA MUNICIPAL POWER AGENCY, ORLANDO
Williams has nearly four decades of experience in public and investor-owned electric utilities. He believes Florida Municipal’s structure, with 33 municipal electric utility owner-members, can expand solar energy’s reach without increasing costs. Those members provide electricity to more than 4 million Floridians, nearly a fifth of the state total. The agency is building or expanding solar farms in Osceola, Orange, Putnam and Levy counties that can generate nearly 150 megawatts of energy and supply 20 municipal utilities, including “new communities that haven't had access to solar before.” The company calls it “one of the largest municipal-backed solar projects” in the country. Williams previously served as vice president of global energy analytics at Global Energy Analytics at Peabody Energy in St. Louis.
