Florida Municipal Power Agency is a wholesale power agency owned by municipal electric utilities. FMPA's 33 municipal electric systems serve approximately 3 million Floridians. Williams, who leads a staff of nearly 150 employees, became the agency's CEO in 2016. “We have successfully reduced our inflation-adjusted power costs for our members throughout Florida, reaching the lowest levels over the past 30 years,” he says. “We are reaching a point where most municipal customers have lower average rates than investor-owned utility customers, which is crucial at a time when many people don't have the disposable income for high electric bills.”

NEXT BIG FOCUS: My focus continues to be on FMPA's members and their access to low-cost, reliable power. The next decade will likely see escalating costs and constantly increasing demand, and it's essential to me that our members are prepared in a world with data centers and AI requiring additional power nationwide.
