FMEA is the statewide trade association representing Florida's 33 public power communities, serving more than 3 million Floridians. Zubaly has been with FMEA for 26 years and has served as executive director since 2017. “As the mutual aid coordinator for our 33 member utilities, I've coordinated thousands of line workers to come to the assistance of public power utilities in need following a hurricane or other disaster,” she says.

INDUSTRY TRENDS: Electric utilities are balancing rapidly growing electricity demand, especially in a fast-growing state like Florida, with significant investments in grid modernization and system hardening to improve resilience against extreme weather, all while maintaining reliability and affordability for customers.

NONPROFIT PASSION: One organization I'm especially passionate about is Lighthouse of the Big Bend. It has been an incredible resource for my 84-year-old mother as she experiences rapid vision loss, providing tools, training and support that help her maintain independence in everyday tasks many of us take for granted.

DAILY RITUAL: Staying at my best requires exercising both physically and mentally. I enjoy walking and exploring the many trails in Tallahassee, which helps me recharge and stay focused. I also make reading a daily habit to keep my mind sharp, continuously learning and expanding my perspective.

PERSONAL RESET: Taking a walk and spending some time outdoors or curling up with my dog and a good book.
