For more than two decades, Newsom has served in various roles at Mitsubishi Power, which designs, manufactures and services power systems worldwide. Headquartered in the Orlando area, the company employs more than 2,700 professionals and is a branch of Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It has committed to becoming “net zero” by 2040 as it develops technology and solutions to help industry partners meet their 2050 decarbonization goals. Starting as a service sales manager, Newsom rose through the ranks to become president and CEO in 2021. He earned his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School. At a recent energy industry conference, Newsom said demand for heavy-duty gas turbines has increased more than sixfold in five years, with much of that growth driven by large data centers.
