MIKE BJORKLUND
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER, FLORIDA ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES ASSOCIATION, TALLAHASSEE
Since 2017, Bjorklund has been at the helm of the Florida Electric Cooperatives Association, a statewide trade group composed of 16 distribution and two generation and transmission electric cooperatives. The co-ops cater to rural and suburban areas in 57 of Florida’s 67 counties, providing essential services to about 2.7 million Floridians. FECA handles many functions on behalf of its members, such as regulatory and legislative matters, organizing mutual aid after major storm events and operating a self-insurance fund.
EDUCATION: Troy University (BS)
FIRST JOB: I was 6 years old when I started working at Bjorklund’s IGA, our family grocery store. My first job was bringing in shopping carts for a nickel apiece.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: A small business owner. I loved watching my parents’ hard work and ideas build into a business they proudly ran. I find the idea of building a business that helps strengthen our community very appealing.
HOBBY: My biggest passion is spending time with my family. The world has a way of keeping us distracted. That’s why I try to make it a point to spend whatever free time I have with the people I care about.
