Armando Guerra, a Cuban businessman, founded Sedano’s Supermarkets as a neighborhood grocery store in Hialeah in 1962. It has since grown into the largest independently owned Hispanic supermarket chain in the U.S. Herrán, the son of co-founder Manuel Herrán, now leads Sedano’s 3,000-plus employees and operates more than 30 stores across Miami-Dade, Broward and Orange counties. The company launched Sedano’s Retail Media Network and released the first issue of Nuestra Sazón (Our Flavors) magazine in 2021. Known for its support of underserved families, Sedano’s distributes meal bundles during holiday seasons and provides food kits for home-bound seniors when hurricanes hit.
