EDUCATION: Miami University (BA)
IF I WERE GOVERNOR: I would increase the state’s investment in technical and trade schools, including a requirement that all high school students learn about the opportunities that a career in the trades can provide.
READING: Robert Putnam’s Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community. It delves into the recent decline in in-person civic engagement and discusses how that impacts American democracy and the strength of our communities.
INSPIRING FLORIDIAN: I think Jimmy Buffett is an inspiration to all Floridians. He reminded us that everything is a little better when you spend some time on the water.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED: Our budgets reflect our values. Every now and then, I take a look at how I’m spending my time and resources to make sure that this allocation accurately reflects what’s most important to me, both personally and professionally.
