The University Area CDC is spearheading the redevelopment of the historically blighted area surrounding the University of South Florida. Employing about 50 staffers and contracting with more than 30 partners, its aim is to acquire resources and provide support for neighborhood revitalization and permanent community sustainability. In Combs’ 14 years as CEO, she has been at the forefront of initiatives that have successfully secured more than $100 million in investments, all aimed at enhancing the well-being of the residents who live there.
