REBECCA FISHMAN LIPSEY
PRESIDENT & CEO, THE MIAMI FOUNDATION, MIAMI
The Miami Foundation is a home base for philanthropy in Greater Miami. It has invested more than $800 million into the community since its inception. “We build collaborations with philanthropists, corporations and government to address the most pressing issues facing Miami today and forever,” Lipsey says. She’s been in charge of it since 2020.
EDUCATION: University of Pennsylvania (BA), Bank Street College of Education (M.Ed.)
FIRST JOB: I started my career as a public school teacher in New York City.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: This is my dream job.
MENTEE IMPACT: Flipping the question, because the impact mentors have had on me is more interesting — I collect mentors, and especially appreciate having much younger and much older mentors who keep me fresh and help me see the world through their eyes.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I founded a social enterprise a decade ago, Radical Partners, and it’s still around today, having a great impact under the new CEO! I was so proud this year to celebrate that both Radical Partners and The Miami Foundation made it to the top 100 women-led companies in Florida at The Women’s Edge’s annual celebration.
