ARIE DOSORETZ
MANAGING PARTNER, SOUTHWEST FLORIDA PROTON & ADVOCATE RADIATION ONCOLOGY, FORT MYERS
Founded in 2019, Advocate Radiation Oncology operates 15 cancer treatment centers across Florida. Southwest Florida Proton will fully open in late 2025 as the first proton center on Florida’s west coast. United Way regularly recognizes Advocate Radiation Oncology as a top corporate partner of its WeCare program for offering free care to uninsured patients. “Our calling as physicians is to provide world-class care to patients, regardless of their financial standing or ability to pay,” says Dosoretz. “Ethically and morally, it’s the right thing to do.”
EDUCATION: University of Pennsylvania (BA, MD, MBA)
FIRST JOB: A lab research assistant technician. I worked in a lab at the University of Pennsylvania researching cancer treatment mechanisms.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: I am doing exactly what I want to do, but if I couldn’t, I would try to bring people happiness through the arts — music and/or film.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I play the guitar and harmonica. My childhood hero was Bob Dylan. I wanted to be him and taught myself how to play those instruments. I was in a rock band in high school and college before moving on to a career in health care.
INDUSTRY TREND: Precision is redefining cancer care. Medical technology has improved significantly, and today’s radiation machines can focus beams in increments of less than a millimeter. Superb precision helps reduce treatment times and lessens the side effects of radiation.
