Banks has been in leadership at AdventHealth since 1994. It’s a faith-based health system with more than 100,000 team members and over 2,000 care sites across the country. Each year, it cares for nearly 9 million people through hospitals, outpatient services, physician practices and digital platforms. “Our mission is to extend the healing ministry of Christ by providing whole-person care for the body, mind and spirit of every individual we serve,” he says.
EDUCATION: Pacific Union College (BA), University of Maryland (MSW)
FIRST JOB: I started my career as a social worker, helping patients and families navigate difficult situations. It taught me how complex people’s lives can be beyond the clinical setting, and how physical, emotional and social needs are often deeply connected.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: I would own a bike shop. It combines two things I enjoy — cycling and connecting with people.
MENTEE IMPACT: I’ve always believed that rising leaders need meaningful opportunities early in their careers. With the right support, I’m all for giving them big, challenging projects. It’s how they grow and how you show trust — and so far, I’ve not yet been disappointed using this approach personalized.
