CONOR DELANEY
Executive Vice-President, Cleveland Clinic | President, Cleveland Clinic Florida Market, WESTON
Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit health care organization that integrates patient care, hospital services, research and education. With a team of approximately 12,000 caregivers, it serves communities in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties and beyond. A colorectal surgeon by trade, Delaney came to Cleveland Clinic in 1999 for what he thought would be a year of training before returning to his native Ireland but was asked to stay. In 2020, he moved to the Sunshine State to head up Cleveland Clinic Florida.
EDUCATION: University College Dublin, Ireland (MD, Ph.D.)
FIRST JOB: I began my medical career as a surgical intern in Ireland, managing general surgery patients and being on call every third or fourth night. This intensive role provided hands-on experience with a wide range of surgical conditions and laid the groundwork for my future in advanced surgical care.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: Beyond my clinical and academic work, I founded a health care technology company focused on improving hospital efficiency through data integration and real-time analytics. This venture combined my interests in systems engineering and health care operations, allowing me to innovate at the intersection of clinical care, data science and strategic performance improvement.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER
“I’ve always been interested in engineering, drawn to how systems work and can be optimized.”
