RANDY HAFFNER
GROUP PRESIDENT & CEO, ADVENTHEALTH FLORIDA AND ADVENTHEALTH CLINICAL, ADVENTHEALTH, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS
Incorporated in 1973 and headquartered in Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth employs 100,000 nationally (and 59,000 in Florida) and serves 9 million patients annually at its more than 2,000 care sites, including more than 50 hospitals and ERs in Florida. Haffner joined AdventHealth in 1989 and during his 35-year career there has helped to build and develop numerous hospitals, clinics and a full array of health services. “For a growing state like Florida, this is vital to ensuring the quality of life that we all want for our families and ourselves,” he says.
EDUCATION: Walla Walla College (BS), Rollins College (MBA), Andrews University (Ph.D.)
FIRST JOB: Managing a strawberry field for a family friend. It was my responsibility to keep an eye on the crew picking strawberries for commercial sale, as well as a section of the property where people were picking for themselves.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: As a weekend sports warrior, it would be a dream come true to lead a sports franchise or running a ski mountain. But the absolute dream? Coaching my favorite team — the Orlando Magic!
INDUSTRY TREND: The upcoming “age wave” nationally and in our state will bring big changes and challenges to the way we deliver care. This is one of the key reasons why AdventHealth launched its primary health division in 2023. It’s all about getting ready for the future of health care while staying true to our commitment to whole-person care — making sure every individual gets the support they need at every stage of their health journey.
