STEPHEN J. MOTEW
PRESIDENT & SYSTEM CEO, UF HEALTH, GAINESVILLE
UF Health, a $7.1-billion academic medical enterprise with over 32,000 employees, treats patients from all 67 Florida counties, across the U.S. and 35 countries. Motew, a practicing vascular surgeon, took the helm of the clinical enterprise in 2024. He has more than two decades of leadership experience, having most recently worked at the Inova Health System in Northern Virginia where he was executive vice president and chief of clinical enterprise.
EDUCATION: Emory University (BA), University of Illinois at Chicago (MD), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MHA)
FIRST JOB: A stock boy at a clothing store. I learned the importance of attention to detail (making sure the clothes were folded, ironed and aligned) and customer focus.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: My “alternate” career would be to return to full-time clinical practice. Thinking of outside considerations, I would be an AI developer. I am a computer nerd at heart.
