Shaw in July retired as president and CEO after 40 years with one of the nation’s largest faith-based health systems. It extends “the healing ministry of Christ” through more than 100,000 staff at more than 2,000 facilities, including 55 hospitals in nine states. It serves nearly 9 million people annually and has nearly $18 billion in annual revenue. Most of the hospitals are in Florida. Shaw, who began as an intern, said it was time to make room for the next generation of leaders. “When I joined AdventHealth over 40 years ago, I never imagined the profound joy, challenges and sense of purpose this career would bring,” Shaw told the staff. “Our mission of providing whole-person care as a faith-based organization has always been more than just a brand promise — it has been the core of everything we do. Leading this incredible organization has been the honor of my lifetime.”
