Stephanie Berman-Eisenberg
PRESIDENT & CEO, CARRFOUR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING, MIAMI
Carrfour has become the largest not-for-profit affordable housing developer in Florida since it was established by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce in 1993. It provides housing to South Florida’s most vulnerable populations — including formerly homeless families, adults living with severe mental illness and LGBTQ seniors — with an approach that combines high-quality, affordable housing with on-site supportive services focused on residential stability, self-sufficiency, wellness and independence. Berman-Eisenberg, a Miami native, has led the organization for 20 years. “I have challenged our team to build well-designed homes that any of us would be proud to call home as opposed to institutional settings that we often see built for formerly homeless families,” she says. “For the vast majority of our residents, keys to a Carrfour home provides lasting housing stability, a foundation for the pursuit of happiness and interrupts the cycle of poverty for future generations.”
