BENNETT NAPIER
PRESIDENT & CEO, PARTNERS IN ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT, TALLAHASSEE
Partners in Association Management serves as a staffing alternative for not-for-profit trade associations and professional societies that don’t want to hire direct staff or own their own building. The company manages day-to-day operations of its clients to ensure they meet their mission. Napier founded the company, which has 43 employees who serve more than 20 regional, state and national nonprofit organizations.
EDUCATION: University of North Carolina at Charlotte (BA), Florida State University (MS)
IF I WERE GOVERNOR: My first priority would be health care workforce shortages. According to the Florida Office of Economic and Demographic Research, the number of citizens 65 and up will have almost doubled to nearly six million from 2010 to 2030. There are efforts on the table to address this issue. However, if the right policy decisions are not made in time, the state’s economic future and the quality of life of its residents will be impacted.
MENTOR: My Scoutmaster Larry Warlick. I was in Troop 25 in Piedmont, N.C. I had been in Cub Scouts during elementary school and after my parents got divorced, I was not involved in scouting. After a few years, I got back into scouting. Larry was more than a scoutmaster, he was a teacher, a cheerleader and definitely a father figure. I went on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout much to his credit.
