MIKE GRIFFIN
EXECUTIVE MANAGING DIRECTOR & MARKET LEADER, SAVILLS, TAMPA
Griffin has been in leadership for more than nine years at Savills, a global business advisory firm of more than 40,000 worldwide, with more than 1,000 employees in North America and about 50 in the Tampa office. As both the chair of the finance committee and vice chair of the University of South Florida Board of Trustees, Griffin has played a central role in USF’s plan to construct an on-campus football stadium.
EDUCATION: University of South Florida (BS)
MENTOR: My wife Melanie continues to inspire me and mentor me the most through her engaging, servant-leadership style. Her ability to lead a large state agency (the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation) while also continuing to be an amazing wife, mother and friend to many shows that you truly can do it all while remaining grounded in one’s success.
READING: For those new to Florida, I encourage them to read A Land Remembered (Patrick Smith) or The Gulf (Jack Davis). Other books include The Trusted Advisor (David Maister) and The Coddling of the American Mind (Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt). Everyone in business should also be a subscriber to The Wall Street Journal and of course Florida Trend.
IF I WERE GOVERNOR
“I would continue to prioritize investing in Florida’s infrastructure and transportation networks which are central to economic development, job growth and Floridians' overall quality of life.”
