BRIAN WOLFBURG
PRESIDENT & CEO, VYSTAR CREDIT UNION, JACKSONVILLE
Wolfburg has led VyStar Credit Union since 2017. The not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative was founded in 1952 as Jax Navy Federal Credit Union. It became VyStar Credit Union in 2002. It’s the second-biggest credit union in Florida and the 13th-biggest credit union in the U.S., with more than $14 billion in assets serving more than 975,000 members nationwide.
EDUCATION: State University of New York at Buffalo (BS), New York University (MBA)
FIRST JOB: My earliest work experience was entrepreneurial, finding small ways to earn money and learning how to manage responsibility at an early age. My first formal jobs came later when I was a t-ball coach for the youth in our town, and I also worked at a local auto dealership.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: I’d delve into real estate development. I’ve been fortunate to lead projects in the past — including revitalizing historic properties in Buffalo, N.Y.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I once enjoyed a brief moment on stage during a traveling Broadway production of Les Misérables, an opportunity won through a charity auction. The role was small, the bar scene was loud, and let’s just say it didn’t lead to a career change. But it was a great reminder of the value of stepping outside of your comfort zone, especially under the spotlight.
HOBBY
“Long distance running has been a consistent outlet for me over the years.”
