JORGE GONZALEZ
VICE CHAIRMAN & CEO, CITY NATIONAL BANK OF FLORIDA, MIAMI
City National Bank is the second-largest Florida-based bank and one of the 75 largest banks in the nation. Gonzalez, a native Miamian, joined the bank in 2009 and became CEO in 2010. “We have grown CNB from $2 billion to more than $27 billion in assets, which is indicative of how we have helped Florida grow and helped business owners achieve their goals,” Gonzalez says. He’s been active in several nonprofits, serving on the board of directors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital System, FIU CasaCuba and the Institute of Contemporary Art. He became a member of The Florida Council of 100 in 2022.
EDUCATION: Florida International University (BS)
FIRST JOB: I had every intention of being an attorney until I got a taste of banking. My time in a bank management training program directly out of college exposed me to an industry where you’re able to meet super accomplished entrepreneurs and professionals who are willing to tell you everything about their businesses.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: My dad used to make custom kitchens, so I am handy with woodwork.
HOBBIES: Family, work and fitness. I spend 90% of my time focused on one of these. The other 10% is spent watching a good movie or playing golf.
