KEVIN JOHNSON
PRESIDENT & CEO, SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION, TAMPA
Started in 1934 as the Hillsborough County Teachers Credit Union, Suncoast today is the largest credit union in Florida by membership. It has 1.3 million members (up from 1.2 million last year), $19.2 billion in assets and just shy of $17 billion in shares and deposits. Johnson, a University of Tampa grad, spent 16 years at Suncoast in various leadership roles — executive vice president, senior vice president, chief information officer — before becoming president and CEO in 2016. “At Suncoast, our mission has always been to improve the lives of our members and the communities we serve. We are proud of our continued growth and excited for the opportunities ahead as we remain focused on delivering exceptional value, innovation and service, especially to those who serve or have served our country,” Johnson says. Suncoast has 169 branch and ATM locations in 19 Florida counties.
