IF I WERE GOVERNOR: I would have as my mantra — ‘Policy over Politics.’ I’d probably be a one-term governor!
INSPIRING FLORIDIAN: The late Gov. Leroy Collins, hands down. He was governor during the Civil Rights movement and while some of his earlier expressed beliefs would be objectionable today, he rose above the culture of his day and took positions on justice, equality and civil rights which were an anathema to many of his constituents.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED: “To listen, listen, listen. You will not only learn, but you will give someone else a chance to explain another point of view.”
