SEAN PITTMAN
FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER, PITTMAN LAW GROUP, TALLAHASSEE
Pittman’s 14-person law firm provides legal counsel and government affairs expertise nationwide, and Pittman has demonstrated a commitment to giving back. In honor of his mother, he founded the Wilhelmina Foundation to provide college textbooks to students in need throughout Florida, and through the Big Bend Minority Chamber, his firm supports Title 1 schools. During his leadership tenure with the Orange Bowl Committee, Pittman spearheaded fundraising efforts for a $3-million revitalization of Glades Pioneer Park in Belle Glade. When Florida passed medical marijuana in 2016, Pittman was a vocal advocate ensuring that one of initial licenses went to a Black farmer. As the industry expanded, he and others continued to champion the cause, and Florida has now awarded medical marijuana licenses to seven Black farmers.
EDUCATION: Florida State University (BS, JD)
FIRST JOB: I was a newspaper delivery guy in Riviera Beach during my seventh grade year of junior high.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: I’m known amongst my close family and friends as the ultimate ‘best man.’ I have been honored to serve as ‘best man’ 10 separate times in 10 separate weddings.
PASSION PROJECT: I was proud to release my first book, Disaffected, last year. (It) speaks to the importance of voting in a time when many have lost trust and confidence in government. Disaffected illustrates that even the decision to not vote is in fact a vote, and, for many, elections are a literal matter of life and death. A best seller!
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER
“I would be president of a major university in the United States.”
