EDUCATION: University of Miami (BA, JD)
FIRST JOB: (At 15) I had the opportunity to work with my stepmother, a doctor with a family medical practice. I had that job until I left for college. I assisted in patient intake and worked my way up to EKG technician.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: A nurse practitioner. After my heart transplant, the care I received from nurses was life-changing. … Nurses are the backbone of health care, and their ability to heal and restore hope is something I deeply admire.
HOBBY
“Ten years ago, I set out to run a marathon on each continent. That goal was cut short by heart failure. Now after a heart transplant, I will finish that goal as a testament to resilience and gratitude.”
