Whittall founded Unicorp National Developments in 1998 and grew the company into one of Central Florida’s biggest developers, building both retail and residential developments, including apartment complexes and more than 100 drugstores. The company says the aggregate value of its projects totals more than $3 billion.

IF I WERE GOVERNOR: My focus would be on how to build affordable housing but also how to build it very upscale. We are looking into different innovative ways to build communities to house the growing population of the state.

HOBBIES: I race Ferraris.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED: Always treat people kindly, always treat people like you would like to be treated, try to be likable. If you’re likable, people seem to want to do more things for you, and it will help you get further ahead in life. Truly care and take interest in others. Success follows those who deserve it.
