In 2024, Fernandez moved into the CEO role after a 32-year stint as president of the company that was founded in 1981 by his father. ANF focuses on the markets of multifamily, health care, senior living, municipal, commercial and education facilities. It’s also a philanthropic leader in South Florida, supporting organizations such as the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, ABC Cares, the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County, the Urban League of Broward, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the YMCA. In 2024, ANF deepened its philanthropic efforts by launching the ANF Charitable Fund through the Community Foundation of Broward.
EDUCATION: Miami Dade College (AA)
FIRST JOB: I worked as a clerk at a drop-off dry cleaning store, helping customers with their orders and keeping things organized behind the counter.
DREAM ALTERNATE CAREER: While it’s hard to imagine having another career after 44 years in real estate and construction, if I had chosen a different path, I would have become a land use attorney. I enjoy the process of securing entitlements for vacant land or existing developments and transforming them into landmark projects that benefit communities.
PASSION PROJECT: Remodeling our home in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. I transformed a classic Florida cottage into a cozy, resort-style retreat. We completely gutted and redesigned both the interior and exterior to create a space where our family can spend quality time together, especially enjoying sunsets from our bayside dock.
