CRAIG COLLIN
PRESIDENT & COO, TAVISTOCK DEVELOPMENT CO., ORLANDO
Tavistock is a private investment and real estate firm developing large-scale projects like Lake Nona and Sunbridge in Central Florida and Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale. The company is known for its approach that integrates health, education, technology, human performance and mobility, building neighborhoods and commercial districts designed to thrive economically and enhance quality of life across generations. “I’ve always believed developers should think of themselves as community builders,” says Collin. “I challenge them to act as civic leaders who shape the future of a community, not just its buildings. By gathering engaged partners, we focus on shared goals that benefit all stakeholders. This bridging of ambition, innovation and community responsibility has influenced my peers’ focus toward long-term community stewardship.”
EDUCATION: Ryerson University (BS)
FIRST JOB: After delivering newspapers, my first real job was working in a factory producing tin cans. This work allowed me to pay my way through architecture school and taught me invaluable lessons about the importance of hard work and perseverance.
SOMETHING SURPRISING: My twin daughters were adopted from China when they were seven months old. They are now adults living and working in New York City. Something else many people don’t know is that I am a fan of American jazz from the 1950s and 1960s and have acquired a collection of first-pressing vinyl that is somewhat larger than my wife feels it needs to be.
