Real Estate

TERE BLANCA
FOUNDER, CHAIRMAN & CEO, BLANCA COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE, MIAMI
Blanca founded the commercial real estate firm 11 years ago, determined, she says, “to make a positive impact in our community.” The company, which employs 12, provides a range of brokerage and advisory services to landlords and tenants.
Blanca began her career in banking, left that profession to get an MBA, then was working in sales for a technology company in San Diego when a friend suggested her background in sales and marketing might make for success in real estate. She worked in sales for a commercial real estate services firm before starting her own business.
“The moral of the story,” she says, “is that sometimes the road to finding your calling takes twists and turns, but the time spent navigating it is ultimately an investment in your future.”
EDUCATION | University of Miami (BBA, MBA) |
SURPRISING | I really, really don’t like heights, but we often have to go up 30 stories or more in buildings that are under construction. I’ve conquered this fear conducting property tours but have not been able to venture out onto a mountain to zipline while on family vacations — yet. |
FLORIDA ISSUE | The need to invest in our public schools |
PHILANTHROPIC PASSION | I serve on the board of the Miami-Dade College Foundation, and I’m a past chair of City Year Miami, which I continue to support. I also serve on the Miami Herbert Business School’s real estate advisory board. |
FAVORITE PART OF LEADERSHIP | Watching team members develop professionally and personally to become leaders themselves is a joy — and I consider it a privilege to be able to inspire that development and help forward their goals. |
